FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to nonferrous metallurgy and may be used in production of flat 20 mm-thick articles. Molten metal is continuously fed by gravity from pony ladle 1 at pouting angle of not over 15° downward long discharge element 2 at constant of decreasing rate. Metal flows spontaneously on the surface of crystalliser pool 3. Distribution of vortices formed when melt gets on bath surface is eliminated by external cover 10 arranged above top side of discharge element 2. Gaseous components are discharged via open space 11 located above melt flow.
EFFECT: improved feed of molten metal into crystalliser pool.
