FIELD: continuous casting of elongated metallic blanks such as rod. SUBSTANCE: apparatus includes casting vessel from which liquid steel is fed through immersible pipe to vertical mold. Mouth of immersible pipe has cross section area being no less than 0.3 of area of flow-through cross section of mold. Casting vessel includes two chambers. First chamber is communicated with atmosphere, second closed chamber is joined with vacuumizing device. At reducing pressure in closed chamber, melt metal level in first chamber exceeds metal level in mold only by insignificant value.
