SUBSTANCE: device for on-line diagnostics of ship electric propulsion comprises an analog-to-digital converter, a controller and an operator's panel. A controller comprises a unit for identification of device under test (DUT) parameters; a reference DUT model; a unit to calculate current DUT parameters; a unit to store current DUT conditions; a unit to classify a DUT status; a forecasting unit. Making a decision on a DUT status is carried out on the basis of comparison of its current parameters and parameters of a reference model.

EFFECT: analysis of a trend to vary these parameters makes it possible to do a forecast on origination and development of DUT defects, which increases reliability of motor operation on a real-time basis.
