FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a method of producing 5-alkoxy-4-hydroxymethylpyrazole of general formula (3), where R1 denotes a C1-C6 alkyl group or a phenyl group, R2 denotes a C1-C6 halogenalkyl group, a cyano group or a (C1-C6 alkoxy)carbonyl group, and R3 denotes a C1-C6 alkyl group which can be unsubstituted or substituted with halogen, a phenyl group or a (C1-C6 alkoxy)carbonyl group, a C3-C8 cycloalkylalkyl group, a C2-C6 alkenyl group or a C2-C6 alkynyl group. The disclosed method involves reaction of pyrazole of general formula (1) with a compound of general formula L-R3 (2), where L is a leaving group, and formaldehyde in the presence of a base, where R1, R2 and R3 assume values given above. The invention also relates to novel 5-alkoxy-4-hydroxymethylpyrazole compounds.
EFFECT: disclosed method enables simple and high-efficiency production of novel 5-alkoxy-4-hydroxymethylpyrazole compounds, which are intermediate compounds in production of herbicides.
