FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: method of detecting through pores in galvanic metallic coatings is realised by detecting, on a paper screen saturated with a suitable electrolyte-developer solution, coloured zones of interaction of the ions of the electrolyte developer with products of electro-dissolution of the base metal, generated by anodic polarisation of the microstructure of the coating surface through an electrochemical probe with simultaneous recording of the current-voltage curve. During a given period of time, the base metal undergoes electrochemical dissolution through the through pores in the coating with simultaneous recording of the current-voltage curve of the process such that ions of the dissolved metal accumulate in the volume of the solution of the capillary channel of the tip the cell, after which the solution with anodic products are injected onto the paper screen to form a coloured spot if there are through pores in the coating.

EFFECT: high processability, rapidness and information content of inspecting porosity of coatings on metal bases.
