FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method includes steps of forming a stream (A) of the air to be decontaminated, exposing the stream to downstream successive electrostatic fields which alternate on the direction of the intensity vector and which are generated by crosswise air stream-permeable electrodes (1) and filtering the treated air stream using an electrostatic filter. There are electric field concentrators in the form of protrusions (3) on the surface of the electrodes (1). The intensity of each of the alternating electrostatic fields between corresponding electrodes is selected based on the condition of electroporation of cells of microorganisms or inactivation thereof.
EFFECT: high efficiency, reliability, rate of treatment and improved hygienic safety.
