FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of methyl(phenethyl)dichlorosilane, used as a monomer in production of frost-, heat- and radiation-resistant polymers. Disclosed is a method of producing methyl(phenethyl)dichlorosilane, where first, styrene is mixed with a catalyst - a tetra-kis-(triphenylphosphine)platinum(0) complex; methyl dichlorosilane (MDS) is then added at temperature 90-100°C. MDS is fed at such a rate that temperature of the reaction mixture does not exceed 140°C. After feeding, the mixture is held for 1-2 hours at 130-140°C. The end product is extracted via vacuum distillation.
EFFECT: method enables to obtain an end product with high output over a considerably short period of time compared with the closest analogue, the reaction takes place without an induction period, which enables to use the disclosed method on an industrial scale.
