FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: method involves charging solid reduced iron, carbonaceous material and additional flux into a smelting tank furnace during blowing of an inert gas into a layer of molten cast iron in the melting tank furnace for melting of the cast iron through bottom lances made in the bottom of the tank furnace for mixing of the molten cast iron layer, solid reduced iron, carbonaceous material and an additional flux. The blowing is done from the top using oxygenated gas through the top lance made in the tank furnace. In this case, the molten cast iron produced by melting of the solid reduced iron with combustion heat generated during combustion of carbonaceous material and/or carbon of the molten cast iron. And the carbonaceous material is charged with formation of a slag layer containing suspension of carbon material and formation of the covering layer of carbon material, formed only by carbon material on the slag layer containing suspension of carbon material. In this case, suspension of carbon material at the top of the slag layer formed from the slag derived during the melting of the solid reduced iron supplied to the layer of molten cast iron.
EFFECT: prevention of abnormal foaming of the slag and to ensure its safe tapping without tilting the furnace.
