METHOD OF DETERMINING BASE STATION LOCATION Russian patent published in 2012 - IPC H04B17/00

Abstract RU 2454000 C1

FIELD: information technology.

SUBSTANCE: method is meant for radio monitoring cellular communication systems. The result is achieved due to that the method involves receiving signals emitted by the base station and measuring their amplitude, synchronous measurement of eigen coordinates of the mobile system, converting measurement results to a spatial spectrum and determining weight coefficients. Reception and measurement of the signal amplitude is carried out from each transmitter of the base station. The beam pattern of antennae of the transmitters, the width and orientation angle of which are quantised in the region of their uncertainty, are determined beforehand. Quantised coordinates of the zone of possible location of the base station are determined and stored. Based on the values of eigen coordinates of the mobile system and quantised coordinates of the zone of possible location of the base station, the distance and bearings are determined, and the result is used to calculate the beam pattern in the direction to the mobile system from possible locations of the base stations. Weight coefficients are determined and measurement results are converted to a spatial spectrum for each pair of quantised beam pattern parameters. The maximum value is selected from the obtained plurality of spatial spectrum values and its coordinates are used to determine the location of the base station.

EFFECT: more comprehensive, reliable and accurate radio monitoring of cellular communication systems.
