SUBSTANCE: invention relates to communication technology and can be used in systems with multiple carriers. For that end the communication system facilitates transmission in accordance with the single-carrier multiplexing scheme (SC), multi-carrier multiplexing scheme (MC) or a combination thereof. Based on various factors, such as the attributes associated with the UE (user equipment), or resource availability, the base station may transmit to the UE, an appropriate multiplexing scheme, which should be adopted for specific transmissions. UE can be scheduled for transmission in a semi-static mode, wherein the UE employs a transmission scheme of a specific time interval, or may change the mode dynamically for different transmissions. For a transmission from the UE, comprising a plurality of data streams with dissimilar attributes, the base station implements the MIMO system (multiple inlets and outlets) for the UE. This facilitates the UE to switch dynamically between or to adopt simultaneously various multiplexing schemes for data exchange, thereby taking full advantage associated with different schemes.
EFFECT: increased flexibility in the optimisation of capacity utilisation.
