SUBSTANCE: invention relates to communication technology and can be used to control the wireless communication in a heterogeneous environment, a wireless access point (AP). Data of the on-air message transmission system may be configured to include the information identifying a different type of transmission of the base station. In some aspects the information may include the base station access type and/or the sector ID, to differentiate the base station among many other stations. According to other aspects, this information may include the resources of a wireless channel, defined for a particular type of base station or muffled by a transmitting base station to help reduce noise on such resources. Through the use of aspects of wireless communication control, disclosed herein, an effective and reliable communication can be maintained in large heterogeneous networks of AP.
