FIELD: electric engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to start-control equipment and may be used for starting high pressure gas discharge lamps. The starting device for gas discharge lamps is consisted of a control init, feedback unit, slave key, piezo element and electric magnet containing spring-loaded armature and stator with coil. Besides, the piezo element is located coaxially to the armature of electric magnet at a distance from the full run of the element and connected with gas discharge lamps contacts with its electrodes. The electro magnet coil is coupled with mains through the slave key.
EFFECT: reduced device sensitivity to mains voltage drops and to external conditions of operation, simplified design.
