FIELD: medical science.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely surgery and oncology. Extrafascial removal of the thyroid gland and the fat tissue of the neck with lymph nodes is performed. At the stage of central and lateral lymph node dissection the fat tissue and the lymph nodes of zones II to VI of the neck are removed. The removal is performed using an ultrasound aspirator dissector with a "double-ball" sonotrode, wherein the tip of the dissector is applied near the removed structures without direct contact with said structures. The fat tissue is gradually extracted sparing the nerves of the cervical plexus.

EFFECT: method allows operating with minimal blood loss and lowest damage to healthy tissue of the neck, maintaining skin sensitivity in the neck region, submaxillary, parotid and supraclavicular spaces, improving outcomes of surgical treatment for patients with thyroid cancer with lymph node metastasis therein improving functional and cosmetic outcome of the operations which results in improved quality of life for the patients following the procedure.
