DEVICE AND METHOD FOR DETERMINING DEPTH AT WHICH CONDITION IN WELL SHAFT APPEARS, AND CANISTER USED IN ABOVE MENTIONED DEVICE Russian patent published in 2012 - IPC E21B47/04 G01V1/40

Abstract RU 2456447 C2

FIELD: mining.

SUBSTANCE: depth is calculated based on difference in time of arrival to the furnace of the first tube wave propagating directly upwards in the well shaft and the second tube wave originally passing downwards and then reflected upwards. Tube waves are created by means of a canister provided with possibility of implosion at some pressure. After the canister is introduced to delivery pipeline on ground device, it is moved to the bottom hole by gravity force and with pumped fluid medium. When the canister reaches the depth at which the allowable pressure has been exceeded, it will implode and tube waves will be created. Analyser on the ground surface detects tube waves by means of sensors and creates the pressure profile relative to the well depth. Canisters can be acoustically marked with control of volume and size of the hole for creation of tube waves having certain differences in frequency and amplitude. Canisters can be provided for creation of multiple implosions as well. Canisters can also be equipped with release and cocking mechanisms, and they can create tube waves under influence of the conditions different from the certain pressure.

EFFECT: improving reliable determination of the depth at which the condition in the well shaft appears.
