FIELD: electricity.

SUBSTANCE: proposed are a method and a loop for reducing electric energy consumption in the offload mode down to ultra-low levels such as approximately 1/10 - 1/1000- of the active power or less. The power supply unit with ultra-low offload characteristic contains a primary loop, a secondary loop and a control loop. The control loop performs monitoring of the primary loop operation mode and determines whether offload mode is in place or whether there is no load condition; if so, the primary loop is broken. When the primary loop is broken electric energy consumption of the power supply unit with ultra-low offload is reduced to ultra-low levels.

EFFECT: electric energy consumption reduction.
