FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: invention essence consists in multilevel protection of a standalone voltage inverter against current overloads in a DC or AC link, protection against simultaneous supply of control pulses to the cathode and anode group switches in a separate inverter rack, protection against semiconductor switches desaturation, protection against long duration control pulses. The device includes a standalone voltage inverter, power transistor drivers, phase current sensors, a load current sensor, bipolar comparators, a programmable logical integrated circuit, an analogue-to-digital converter (ADC), a control system (CS). The programmable logical integrated circuit (PLIC) plays the role of a signal commutator allowing or prohibiting supply of control pulses from the control system to the switches depending on protection tripping signals from the sensors or in case of incorrect control signals received from the control system.
EFFECT: enhancement of the device reliability and resistance to overloads and unwanted signals.
