SUBSTANCE: proposed versions of the invention are aimed at switching carriers for attachment to a multicast session in a wireless communication network. A request for registration for an announced multicast session (for instance, a "push-talk" session (PTT)) is sent from an access terminal to an access network (stage 520). The access terminal has a traffic channel on the first carrier. The access network identifies whether the announced multicast session is carried on the first carrier. The access network sends a message of assignment of a traffic channel, identifying a traffic channel to an access terminal on the second carrier (stage 530), if at the definition stage it was defined that the specified multicast session is not carried on the first carrier, but is carried on the second carrier. Accordingly, it is not required for the access terminal to send an attachment request for dedication of a traffic channel for it on the second carrier.
