FIELD: information technology.
SUBSTANCE: mobile communication subscribers are offered multimedia broadcast and multicast services (MBMS). A radio access network (RAN) node communicates with one or more base radio stations which transmit information to subscriber mobile terminals, some of which subscribe to MBMS, and information is received from them. The RAN node communicates with multiple packet data transmission nodes of the base station, which receive MBMS data for their delivery to the RAN node. One of the said multiple packet data transmission nodes of the base station is selected so that it delivers MBMS data associated with MBMS to the RAN node. The rest of the nodes are instructed not to deliver MBMS data but carry out other functions for supporting MBMS for their mobile terminals such as calculation of payment for MBMS.
EFFECT: improved use of resources.
