SUBSTANCE: composition contains lubricating base oil and one or more salts which are poly(hydroxycarboxylic acid) amide derivatives, obtained by reacting amine and poly(hydroxycarboxylic acid) of formula Y-CO[O-A-CO]_n-OH (I), where Y denotes hydrogen or an optionally substituted hydrocarbyl group, A is an optionally substituted divalent hydrocarbyl group, and n denotes a number from 1 to 100, preferably from 1 to 10, with an acid or a quaternising agent.
