SUBSTANCE: solid-state image capturing device comprises: a pixel area having a plurality of pixels lying in a two-dimensional matrix and generate pixel signals; a read row counter which generates the row address for reading the pixel area; a first discarded row counter which generates the row address for discarding a first pixel area field; a second discarded row counter which generates the row address for discarding a second pixel area field; a selector which selects one of the row addresses respectively generated by the read row counter, the first discarded row counter and the second discarded row counter; and pixel driving unit which respectively selects two rows - an odd number row and a neighbouring even number row - a pixel area in accordance with the selected row address.

EFFECT: enabling capture of moving images of the natural scenery without changing the quality of the image before and after switching between operations with shorter accumulation period and operations with longer accumulation period.
