SUBSTANCE: in a solid-state image capturing device, a synchronisation signal generating unit generates a horizontal synchronisation signal to determine a first horizontal scanning period and a second horizontal scanning period, having a different duration from the first horizontal scanning period. Based on the horizontal synchronisation signal, a scanning discard circuit successively selects and discards pixels in rows of a pixel array, and a scanning read circuit successively selects pixels and reads the pixel signal emanating therefrom. In each pixel, charge accumulates during a charge accumulation period which starts from discarding and ends when a pixel signal is read. In one vertical scanning period, both the first horizontal scanning period and the plurality of second horizontal scanning periods arise multiple times, wherein the second horizontal scanning period occurs periodically.
EFFECT: reduced difference in the level of pixel signals due to difference in the charge accumulation period on rows, and high image quality.
