FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: wire is made for an overhead power transmission line for severe winter conditions, for this purpose solid electric insulation is applied onto a metal wire, above which a current-conducting layer is applied with high electric resistance to passage of electric current along it, at the side of a power substation or a transformer plant a control transformer is provided, one end of the secondary winding of which is connected with one end of the current-conducting layer of the overhead power transmission line wire, and the other end of the autotransformer secondary winding is connected to a grounding circuit, besides, the other end of the current-conducting layer of the overhead power transmission line is grounded, if there is a risk of wire breaks in the overhead power transmission line due to icing or a thick layer of snow hanging over them the primary winding of the autotransformer is connected to power supply; current in the circuit is increased: secondary winding of the autotransformer - grounding circuit - current-conducting layer of the overhead power transmission line wire, by which the current-conducting layer is heated with high electric resistance, after snow melting the primary winding of autotransformer is de-energised.
EFFECT: power supply reliability improvement.
