SUBSTANCE: illumination device 12 includes a plurality of light sources 17, a power supply board 30 and a plurality of connectors 40. The power supply board 30 is adapted to power the light sources 17. The connectors 40 are provided to create electric connections between the power supply board 30 and light sources 17. The connectors 40 are arranged such that neighbouring connectors 40 lie in a zigzag order, thereby providing a large space between neighbouring connectors 40. The illumination device additionally includes leads protruding from the connectors for electric connection between connectors and light sources. Each lead has a loop, i.e., a part which is in form of a loop, the size of the loop being variable. Thus, even if the distance between light sources and connectors is not the same, the length of the leads can be adjusted by changing the size of the loop.
EFFECT: reducing the thickness of the display device while maintaining uniform brightness of the backlight of the display device, preventing electric discharge between connectors.
