FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: housing of a passive autocatalytic recombiner in zones where assemblies of catalyst elements are located has a cross section which decreases from assembly to assembly stepwise in the direction of gas flow. Further, it is provided that catalyst elements of each subsequent assembly have a greater height than that of catalyst elements of the previous assembly. In a special case, there can be two - bottom and top assemblies of catalyst elements, wherein each catalyst element has the shape of a plate with height of 540 mm in the bottom assembly and 90…200 mm in the top assembly.

EFFECT: high efficiency of hydrogen recombination with the same total area of catalytic coating and higher critical concentration of hydrogen owing to intense heat-removal from the catalyst.
