FIELD: hydrogen safety.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of hydrogen safety, namely to a passive catalytic recombiner of hydrogen and oxygen, and can be used to remove hydrogen from storage rooms of batteries, in case of hydrogen leaks at chemical industry enterprises, from installations using liquid hydrogen, in storage of hydrogen cylinders, during storage and disposal of nuclear waste, for example, in accidents at nuclear power plants. Reducing local overheating and preventing the destruction of catalytic elements while maintaining a high catalytic activity of the recombiner is a technical result, which is achieved due to the fact that the recombiner contains a vertically located hollow tubular body with a cross section of a circular or other profile, freely communicated in its upper and lower ends with the environment , while in its lower part there is at least one assembly of at least two catalytic elements located one above the other along the gas flow. Each element of the assembly is made of material catalytically inactive for the reaction of hydrogen and oxygen recombination and has a channel structure of flow holes arranged coaxially to the gas flow passing through the recombiner. A catalyst for the recombination of hydrogen and oxygen is applied to the inner surface of these holes, while on the inner surface of the holes of at least the first element along the gas flow, the catalyst is applied only to the surface of a part of the holes, and the holes of this part are uniformly distributed over the horizontal section of the said element.
EFFECT: invention solves makes it possible to reduce the time for the recombiner to reach the operating mode.
