SUBSTANCE: access terminal may acquire a first sector on a first frequency, receive an overhead message from the first sector, obtain neighbour sector list information from the overhead message, and store this information. The access terminal may be directed from the first frequency to a second frequency so as to balance network load. The access terminal may perform handover to a second sector on the second frequency. If the handover is unsuccessful, then the access terminal may determine a neighbour sector based on the stored neighbour sector list information, then attempt acquisition of the neighbour sector, and perform handover to the neighbour sector.
EFFECT: high reliability of performing inter-frequency handover in a wireless communication network.
