FIELD: information technology.
SUBSTANCE: scrambling sequence is generated based on a set of parameters associated with a terminal and comprising at least one static parameter. A pilot signal is generated based on the scrambling sequence and the pilot signal is transmitted from the terminal to at least one sector. The terminal employs different scrambling sequences for the pilot signal and traffic data.
EFFECT: high efficiency of transmitting a pilot signal on a return communication line.
