FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method involves recrystallisation of glycine in an aqueous solution while adding 1-10 mol % maleic acid to the solution. The process can be carried out multiple times by adding fresh portions of glycine to the solution after separating the gamma-glycine precipitate.
EFFECT: method simplifies production of gamma-glycine from aqueous solutions.
