FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: gamma-glycine is obtained from aqueous glycine solutions in the presence of malonic acid. Recrystallisation is carried out by adding not more than 20 mol % malonic acid into the solution, wherein at concentrations of malonic acid in the solution of less than 10 mol %, recrystallisation is carried out by saturating the solution with glycine at temperature of up to 50°C and the rapidly cooling the solution to 25-30°C. The process can be carried out multiple times by adding fresh portions of glycine to the solution after separating the gamma-glycine precipitate.
EFFECT: method simplifies production of gamma-glycine from aqueous solutions.
