FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the chemical and pharmaceutical industry, specifically to a method of producing gamma-glycine having wide application in engineering, medicine and food industry. The method involves recrystallisation of glycine by treating glycine with a mixture of water vapour and ammonia vapour in a closed volume. The process is preferably carried out at temperature 18-25°C and ammonia concentration in the vapour mixture of 66-96.8 wt %. To accelerate the recrystallisation process, gamma-glycine can be added to the initial glycine.
EFFECT: method is easy to implement and enables to obtain gamma-glycine with high output.
