FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: electrofusion joint comprises a tubular section from thermoplastic material, having an outer diametre, comparable with the inner diametre of the ends of the inner coating from a similar thermoplastic material of adjacent sections of a metal pipe. At each end of the joint there are at least two heating spirals arranged on the external surface of the joint or in close proximity to it, besides, electric wires from heating spirals stretch via the joint and exit on the inner surface of the tubular section for connection to a source of power supply. Methods are described to form a joint between two sections of a metal pipe.
EFFECT: higher joint reliability.
