FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: formation is irradiated with a controlled pulsed generator of fast (14 MeV) neutrons, radiation in the well bore is detected and the corresponding value of porosity is determined. The full time distribution of changes field density of the epithermal (epicadmium) neutrons when the investigated rock is irradiated with a controlled pulsed generator of fast neutrons operating in pulsed radiation mode with high frequency of neutron pulses (several thousands of hertz) is determined, wherein the full time distribution, broken down into time windows, is transmitted in digital form to the surface and recorded into a computer for further processing.
EFFECT: high accuracy and reliability of obtained investigation results for determining formation porosity.
