FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: acousto-optical deflector relates to devices for modulating and scanning optical radiation based on Bragg diffraction on acoustic waves. The acousto-optical anisotropic deflector has an acousto-optical element and a piezoelectric transducer; the input surface of the acousto-optical element is at an angle to the surface on which the piezoelectric transducer is mounted, said angle being equal to the sum or difference of the Brewster angle and the Bragg angle of incidence for said material, and the acousto-optical element is made from anisotropic material; its output surface is illuminated at the wavelength of the laser beam and is at an angle to the surface on which the piezoelectric transducer is amounted, said angle being equal to the sum of the Brewster angle and the direction correction angle and the difference or sum of the Bragg diffraction angle.
EFFECT: increase in resolution of the deflector while simultaneously reducing loss of optical radiation.
