FIELD: physics; optics.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to acousto-optics and can be used for deflecting optical radiation. The method involves directing an initial non-polarised or arbitrarily polarised beam of light on a first anisotropic acousto-optical deflector. Acoustical waves are generated in this deflector and propagate at a Bragg angle to this beam. The beams passing through and diffracted at the same time are directed from the output of the first deflector to the second acousto-optical deflector, where acoustical waves are generated towards the orthogonal direction of acoustical waves in the first deflector, at Bragg angles to both beams. Both diffracted beams are directed from the output of the second deflector to the third acousto-optical deflector, where acoustical waves are generated and propagate in the plane of incident beams at Bragg angle to that, whose projection is parallel the initial beam in the plane of diffraction in the first deflector.
EFFECT: provision for a polarisation non-sensitive method of two-coordinate deflection of light.
