FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to abrasive-jet cleaning of metal surfaces from rust, scale, and old paintwork, in particular, on large-size metal structures. Proposed method comprises forcing compressed air to form abrasive-air mix, feeding the latter into injector to force said mix onto machine surface. Nitrogen is added into compressed air to reduce oxygen concentration in gas-air flow and fed into vessel with abrasive material. Then, abrasive-air mix in forced at 10-12 bar into injector and there through onto machined surface.
EFFECT: decreased surface oxidation.
