FIELD: metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: method involves exposing surface of semifinished product to the action of air-water mixture containing return and nonreturn smelting wastes used as fine-dispersed particles of size not exceeding 0.20 mm. Volumetric particle concentration is 0.01-35%. Air-water mixture is supplied at pressure of 0.15-0.55 MPa. Method further involves washing and drying semifinished product. Method is used for jet-abrasive working of semifinished product surfaces to provide for high-purity alloys and producing ingots from titanium alloys. Method allows foreign inclusions to be removed from flat smooth surfaces of cast semifinished products, as well as from voids, pores and cracks. EFFECT: increased efficiency in cleaning surfaces of semifinished products and reduced loss of metal yield. 2 ex
