FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing middle distillates and lower olefins, involving: catalytically cracking a gas oil material in a fluid catalyst cracking (FCC) riser reactor zone by contacting within said FCC riser reactor zone said gas oil material with a middle distillate selective cracking catalyst to obtain a middle distillate using the cracking catalyst to obtain a FCC riser reactor product containing a cracked gas oil product and a spent cracking catalyst; regenerating said spent cracking catalyst to obtain a regenerated cracking catalyst; contacting a gasoline material with said regenerated cracking catalyst in an intermediate cracking reactor, having at least one lower olefin compound and the used regenerated cracking catalyst; separating said cracked gasoline product to obtain a product containing lower olefins, containing at least one lower olefin compound; using at least a portion of said used regenerated cracking catalyst as said middle distillate selective catalyst; and regenerating at least a portion of said regenerated cracking catalyst to obtain a regenerated cracking catalyst.
