FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: wind action on soil particles is determined based on the wind diagram in the region of the territory for sampling the soil. Soil particles are then selected by drilling at different depth of at least 1 m on the side of prevailing wind velocities and on at least two points lying a distance of 3-5 m from each other. In accordance with the behaviour of soil particles of different size during wind action (roll-over, immediate tear-off, tear-off after turning, quiescence) three states of dynamic structuring processes are possible: invariable position of particles, formation of "islands of irregularity" (tear-off of first particles of average size, roll-over of second particles until appearance of obstacles and immobility of third particles), roll-over of a negligible fraction particles with change in position of particles. The dynamic state where there is formation of "islands of irregularity" is defined by the physics of structuring. Particles with size of 5-50 mcm in that state remain fixed, and as a result of wind action on larger particles (from 80 to 400 mcm), size classification takes place, the particles are rolled over and islands are formed, whose area is determined using the formula: where S is the surface area, where particles are torn off by the wind, without islands; So is the area of the island at the current moment in time; So0 is the area of the island at the initial moment in time; <r> is the average particle size; T is the characteristic time of residence outside the surface; is the number of layers of particles torn over a time T; <t>k is the time for tearing off one layer of particles; nd is the number of particles on the surface; t is the current moment in time.

EFFECT: high accuracy of determining physical characteristics of loess soil: density of material, size and thickness of layers at a different depth.
