FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: series of ring out pulses is generated at one of the pipeline and picked up at the other end, and a decision is made based on results of analysing the picked up pulses, wherein the ring out pulses are generated in the cladding of the inspected pipeline, and each of the received pulses is combined with the previous; the resultant pulse, after picking up the next pulse, is correlated with reference pulses obtained earlier using a similar method on the same area of the pipeline with simulated states considered dangerous, and if the maximum correlation coefficient from the obtained exceeds a set level, a decision is made on the presence of the parameter change of interest on the route of the pipeline and the type of that change, after which the process of monitoring the control object continues, and the decision taken is transmitted to the security service over corresponding communication channels.
EFFECT: high reliability of detecting changes in parameters of medium surrounding a buried pipeline and identification of the type of said changes.
