FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: worm hob includes teeth with two cutting edge profiles alternating along screw line around hob axis, profile axis and two lateral cutting edges and vertex part made up of circle arcs with conjugated straight sections inclined to hob at 15…20° on first tooth and in other side on second tooth. To increase efficient life, odd teeth profile vertex part is made up of one circle arc with center at profile axis and two conjugated straight sections inclined to hob axis at 30…32° while that of even teeth is made up of two circle arcs each being conjugated with one of lateral cutting edges and one straight section inclined to hob axis at 30…32°. Note here that distance from hob center to third tooth vertex exceeds that from hob axis to vertex of first or second tooth by 0.20-0.22 mm.
EFFECT: higher efficiency.
