FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: proposed hob comprises body with lengthwise grooves accommodating hobbing and supporting racks. Elongated hob features identical profile, height and thickness teeth of hobbing and supporting racks. Note here that hobbing teeth for roughing are arranged on one half of racks on hob start side. Needle-shape teeth for finishing are arranged on second half and made up of needle pile consisting of radial metal wire bars. Note here that pitch thickness of needle tooth exceeds that of cutting tooth by double interference. Note also that metal wire bars feature L-like shape and radial arrangement of bar root, while bar bent section extends beyond to form lateral working part of needle tooth by acting on workpiece tooth lateral surface to strengthen it and cut off micro irregularities. Mind that hobbing and supporting rack hobbing teeth are located on one pitch diametre, diametre of crests and diametre of sockets so that hob tooth has two profile edges.
