FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: pair of casting rolls is assembled by installing them horizontally so that a gap is formed between them. Molten steel is prepared, which has the following components: carbon - approximately 0.01 to 0.3 wt %, manganese - 0.1 to 2.0 wt %, silicon - 0.05 to 0.5 wt %, calcium - 8 ppm to 40 ppm, aluminium - 2 ppm to 500 ppm by weight, chrome - below 10.0 wt % and free oxygen - less than 50 ppm at 1600°C. Casting bath is formed from prepared molten steel resting on surfaces of casting rolls above the gap, and rolls are rotated in opposite directions so that cast strip can be formed and transported downwards from the gap.
EFFECT: obtained strips have improved quality of the surface due to reducing the probability of defect formation.
