SUBSTANCE: in the method and system, a helmet is fitted with a micromechanical gimballess inertial positioning system unit with inertial michromechanical sensors, initial referencing of the coordinate systems of a helmet-mounted viewing device and the micromechanical gimballess inertial positioning system unit to the coordinate system of the aircraft is carried out, while determining the turning angles of coordinate axes of the coordinate systems of the helmet-mounted viewing device and the micromechanical gimballess inertial positioning system unit before matching thereof with respect to the coordinate system of the aircraft, and then stored in computer memory. The signal of the micromechanical gimballess inertial positioning system unit is transmitted to the computer and corrected based the signal from the helmet-mounted viewing device.
EFFECT: broader functional capabilities owing to use a pointing system and a helmet-mounted positioning system interacting with each other.
