SUBSTANCE: invention relates to field of medicine, namely to otorhinolaryngology, and can be applied in diagnostics of retraction cholesteatoma of middle ear. Essence of method lies in application of computed tomography of temporal bone. Presence of retraction pocket of tympanic membrane and its depth are determined otomiscoscopically. Dynamic observation is carried out for the period from 0.6 months to 2 years. If deepening of pocket is detected and soft tissue substrate appears in attic, in addition to computed tomography magnetic resonance tomography of temporal bone in T2 and T1-weighted modes, with and without contrast enhancement, as well as in mode of diffusion-weighted image, is performed. If hyperintensive signal is present in case of T2-weighted image and isointensive signal is present in case of T1-weighted image, both with contrast enhancement and without it, as well is hyperintensive signal is present in mode of diffusion-weighted image, conclusion about presence of retraction cholesteatoma of middle ear is made.

EFFECT: application of claimed invention makes it possible to diagnose cholsteatoma in reliable way and carry out surgery in due time in order to prevent development of severe complications.
