SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine. To predict the recurrence of middle ear cholesteatoma in children who have undergone sanitizing operations on the middle ear for chronic purulent otitis media with cholesteatoma, the presence of neutrophilic leukocytes in the histological intraoperative material is investigated. The cell composition is visualized; the vessels of the microcirculatory bed in the perimatrix of the cholesteatoma are counted by morphometry. In the presence of more than 10 neutrophilic leukocytes in the perimatrix infiltrate in the field of view with an increase of 400 times and the number of vessels of the microcirculatory bed on a histological section of 1 cm² more than 600, a relapse of the disease is predicted.

EFFECT: method allows assessing the aggressiveness of the course of the cholesteatomic process and in the early postoperative period to identify a risk group of patients with a recurrence of the cholesteatomic-destructive process in the middle ear.
