FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to ore suspension separation at dressing and metallurgical works. Proposed hydrocyclone comprises tapered cylinder casing with intake chamber, drain branch pipe, sand bed to be integrated with other sand beds of other hydrocyclones and/or to allow return of separated off-grade large lumps to re-crushing. Hydrocyclone is composed of cylindrical and tapered sections and provided with inner lining of wear proof material. Hydrocyclone features output approximating to 450 m3/h. Casing cylindrical section ID is 2.9-3.6 times larger than drain branch pipe OD. Drain branch pipe cross-section area makes 1.27-1.89 of that of feed branch pipe and is 5.0-14.0 times larger than that of sand bed outlet channel at casing bottom taper angle making 16-22 degrees.
EFFECT: higher efficiency and quality, power savings.
