FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of producing lithium peroxide. The method involves reaction of lithium hydroxide with hydrogen peroxide, followed by two-step dehydration of the resultant system. Molar ratio of lithium hydroxide to hydrogen peroxide LiOH/H2O2=1.74-2. Temperature in the synthesis zone ranges from 25°C to 35°C. The system obtained from reaction of hydrogen peroxide and lithium hydroxide is exposed in said temperature interval for 2-3 hours. At the first step, dehydration is carried out by exposure to microwave radiation. Only chemically unbound water molecules contained in the liquid phase are removed. Duration of this operation is calculated based on power of the energy source (microwave radiator) and the amount of energy needed to transform the calculated number of water molecules from the liquid phase to the gaseous phase. Dehydration of the resultant intermediate adduct Li2O2·H2O is carried out by exposure over zeolite at temperature ranging from 10 to 25°C.
EFFECT: method of obtaining lithium peroxide reduces the probability of a fire hazardous situation and provides higher content of the basic substance in the obtained product (up to 99,0 wt %) with lithium output of more than 99,7 wt %.
