FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: base of the chamber used is a full ring with pairs of holes for drift tubes lying in a quasi-checkered order. Drift tubes, having tips with insulating inserts at the ends are tightly mounted in bushings which are in turn leak-tightly fitted in pairs of holes in the chamber with possibility of movement, and the tips for the tubes and insulators for supporting the anode wire have an external cross-section which is in form of a convex n-sided regular polygon.
EFFECT: high accuracy of restoring coordinates of charged particles passing through the chamber operating in a vacuum.
