SUBSTANCE: invention relates to gas ionization multi-wire chambers, in particular, to drift chambers with thin-walled drift tubes. Device for measuring the location of wires in gas wire chambers in the coordinate system associated with the bearing structure of the chamber includes a radiator of downward radiation and a detector of wire scattered radiation configured to move perpendicular to the wire plane. At that, the radiator is a light source and the light detecting device is a device directly recording coordinates of the wire image in the transmitted or reflected light, for example, a microscope with an electronic eye lens installed on an optical bench and configured to automatically read coordinates.

EFFECT: possibility of measuring the location of wires in a transparent or semi-transparent medium.
