METHOD FOR ION-EXCHANGE SEPARATION OF COPPER (II) AND NICKEL (II) IONS Russian patent published in 2012 - IPC C02F1/42 B01J45/00 B01J47/02

Abstract RU 2466101 C1

FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to treat waste and flush water from electroplating. To realise the method, copper (II) and nickel (II) ions are separated in three steps using one type of ion-exchange resin in OH form. The first step involves sorption of the mixture of metal ions with enrichment of the sorbent phase with said ions. Polyampholyte S950 in OH is prepared first and the mixture ions of the two metals undergoes sorption in a countercurrent column with a fixed sorbent layer, for which a solution containing the starting mixture is passed from below. Sorption is stopped when the mixture of ions appears in the eluate. The sorption process is controlled by sample collection, while determining total concentration of copper (II) and nickel (III) using a complexometric technique. At the second step, copper (II) ions are eluted by a glycine solution which is fed from the top. The eluate containing a glycine and copper (II) ion complex is sorbed in a receiver. The obtained complex compound can then be used as an animal feed additive. The third step involves complete desorption of nickel (II) ions with KOH solution, which enables regeneration to the initial form and readiness of polyampholyte for operation.

EFFECT: simple method with 100% separation of copper (II) and nickel (II) ions, reduced volume and degree of contamination of waste water.
